AT3: Success Criteria

 Success Criteria

Use Denim Jeans - I have found a nice 97cm waist men's jeans with a nice front design on the legs.

Recycle for resale - Jeans have been repurposed into a Dilly Bag for storage and carrying items.

Must have machine-sewn seams - Dilly bag was constructed with machine-sewn seams

Must contain a fastener - I recycled old material to create drawstring ties that doubled as a handle.

Must have both straight and decorative stitching - I utilised the machine for both straight stitchings to construct the daily bag. I found a nice star/daisy stitch on the sewing machine and accented the bag at both the top and bottom of the bag.

Must have 2 embellishments of choice - I created fabric flowers and did some hand-embroidered flowers.

Sustainability - The only item purchased was the jeans for $3 at the local op shop. The remaining items were repurposed from scrap material found in my sewing room.

Evaluation

I enjoyed creating a bag from jeans.

My original idea changed as soon as I saw my jeans hanging in the Op Shop. I had to maximise the calico lining to get as much of the jeans into my bag design. I ended up having an issue with the crotch region as it created a hole in the seam so I removed the jeans logo and attached it over the hole

I constructed the bag and lining, then proceeded to embellish the bag. This was a mistake as sewing on the flowers and doing the embroidery with a lining was difficult. Several times I caught the lining.
