Introduction

About Me

Hi and welcome to my blog for supporting evidence in the assessment of EDVT11022 Textile Technology at Central Queensland University.

I am a qualified educator of children aged between 0 to 18 years. In 2017 where there was an oversupply of educators in my small rural town, I chose to upskill to become a Secondary Teacher minoring in Biology and Maths. A trip to Nepal in December 2018 had me revaluate my minors and change Maths to Home Economics.

I have very fond memories of high school home economics and the teachers that made it fun. I have found that by actively participating in my passion of home economics subjects at home, I am able to demonstrate the need for them in everyday life. The children I babysit and my son also show an interest in what I do, and they also ask me to teach them these life skills.

My Teaching Philosophy

I understand that all children are unique with different interests and styles of learning. I believe students thrive in a stimulating environment where they can develop physically, mentally, emotionally. I aspire to create a welcoming and safe environment where student can achieve their best potential. I will facilitate their learning requirement where students are encouraged to share their ideas, experiences and allowed to take risks.

Facilitating of learning is an interchangeable process between teacher, peers, students, and stakeholders along with the extended community. Learning is ongoing with the exchange of new ideas, encouraging creativity, exchange of experiences and the ever-changing technologies available.
